As with any other service provider, such as your family physician, the PSC charges for its services. However, fees for services obtained at the PSC are very reasonable compared to those often charged in the community and are computed on a sliding-scale basis designed to reflect income and/or "ability to pay in a fair manner.” After consideration of the income resources available, you will be informed of the assessed fees at the time of the initial telephone intake interview, which will vary within the range of 20 and 50 US dollars per 50-minute therapy session.
The PSC also offers a range of specialty assessments (e.g., neuropsychological or psycho-educational assessment). Fees charged for Assessment-only services also depend upon income, as well as type or complexity of the assessment sought (e.g., Psycho-educational, ADHD/ADD, learning disability, advanced academic placement). You will be told of the fee assessed at the time of the initial telephone interview. Please also note that 50% of the quoted fee must be paid at the first meeting in the clinic as a deposit for services prior to beginning the formal assessment.
Brief socio-emotional evaluation: $200 (Child Behavior Check List/Teacher’s Report Form/Children’s Depression Inventory/Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Children or Personality Assessment Inventory/Beck Depression Inventory)
Gifted Assessment: Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children/Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale - evaluation ranges from $75 to $325
Learning Disability or ADHD: evaluation ranges from $200 to $500
Learning Disability and ADHD combined: ranges from $250 to $500
Group therapy services (e.g., DBT) operate similarly to therapy services with a $15 fee per session.
It is expected that fees will be paid for services rendered at the time the service is provided. Please note that we accept cash (exact change only - we are unable to make change) or check for payment. Your effort to cooperate with us in this matter will make the process run more smoothly and is highly appreciated!
Your appointment time is expressly reserved for you; it is time dedicated to your treatment. If you do not use it, then it is not available to others who might need it as well. In addition, chronic lateness and missed appointments can greatly interfere with your progress in therapy. Because this time is valuable to you and your clinician, missed appointments may be subject to charges. All cancelations must occur with a minimum of 24-hours notice or may be subject to the full session fee. Should you arrive late for a session, you can only be seen for that portion of your appointment time that remains and you will be charged for a full session.
Child clients and adult clients with children
Clients are required to maintain responsibility for their minor children at all times. Children cannot be left unaccompanied in the waiting room or any other area of the clinic. Unless a child is actively involved in the therapy, children should not accompany adult clients to the PSC. When children are engaged in therapy or evaluation, parents must remain in the clinic while their child is being seen. In cases where children above 16 years-old are being seen in the clinic and are authorized by their parent(s) to transport themselves to and from the clinic, we will require written release of liability obtained at the time the parent provides informed consent. All other children must be accompanied in the PSC at all times. The Clinic cannot assume responsibility for, monitor, or supervise non-client children.
Parking on campus
There is ample parking available for the Psychological Services Center which is shared with the Communication Sciences and Disorders Clinic. The spaces are located behind PCD in Lot 9A and are marked “PSY/CSD”. Clients who are not USF students or staff are authorized to use these spaces. To do so, you must be issued a clinic parking pass. This should be issued by the clinic staff at the beginning of your first visit so that you can immediately place it on the dashboard of your car. This pass will have to be displayed anytime you visit our clinic and park in the clinic parking spaces. It should only be used for clinic-related business. Clients who have a USF tag, such as students or staff, are not eligible for a clinic parking tag and should park according to USF regulations. Clients are responsible for requesting a new permit when their current one is close to expiration. In the event you are in possession of a valid permit issued by us and fail to display it properly, you may be ticketed and have to pay a fine.
